Betting on letting

photoIt’s now just a few months until work starts on Station Hill while at the same time permission has just been granted for the new look Thames Tower (seen in the distance in photo).

All around the station new and refurbished offices are opening. But in the absence of major lettings, Estates Gazette has raised the question of why so many are prepared to build in what is sure to be a fiercely competitive area.

Few outsiders can fully understand their optimism. A new station hardly ticks all the boxes for attracting staff and these two developments across the road are very much scaled out alternatives to more ambitious plans.

Only time will tell if they were right. Their optimism will either prove lucrative or costly. The assumption must be they know  more than the rest of us.
