Supermarket wars

AldiThe new Aldi, due to open in just over a year’s time next to Morrisons will present fascinating competition.

The two stores are fairly direct competitors  at the value end.

But Aldi is a very different operator with small numbers of staff who can be very well paid. It also offers rare non-food items. Morrisons offers better parking, a chance to do a the whole week’s shop and a cafe.

There must be a good chance people will go into both shops, possibly traveling from further afield than they would for just one. And that would benefit both the stores and the customers.
