Empty promise

photoFor some time this unit has stood ready for occupation but little has happened.

The decent looking block, a 9,000 sq ft refurbished warehouse, part of the old Hilliers building in Cardiff Road is the sort of building that would go quickly in a  buoyant economy.

With commerce apparently picking up, this more than ever, has become a barometer of the economy. This sort of unit should normally go quickly if the economy is genuinely on the up.

Why hasn’t this one gone? Impossible to say. rather like the old Horse and Barge pub on Duke Street, some sites seem to remain permanently empty.

So if you want an idea how well Reading is doing, keep an eye on this site, because once it gets a tenant, the economy is surely improving.
