Art price

photoAn arts shop is a plus for any area but there appears to be a need for realism when you look at the price tags.

This independent Cavershan store is always worth a look but the prices on the vertical row of paintings in the window are a little breathtaking.

These prints, all in quantities of around 100, are in the region of £250 each.

Most artists seem to struggle to make a crust but the total turnover these would give the artist would be around £75,000 if they all sold.

As we emerge from the economic downturn prices of that kind seem to bear little relation to costs in the way that most businesses need to.

If artists can get these sort of prices, good luck to them but buyers would do themselves a favour and be a little more discerning.
