Valpy suit

photoThe spread of the station affect has reached one of the town’s blandest streets.

Valpy Street has, for years been a soulless thoroughfare remarkable for nothing, other than the once brilliant Chronicle’s restaurant.

Now the dullest of all office blocks on the site of the old police station is being overhauled to include showers, restaurant and nursery in what must be some of the best office suits in town. The workers there could be in for a treat.

What would be a lot better is opening the entire ground floors of these places to public restaurants. With The Forbury Gardens across the road, this is one place the chain restaurants might ignore and allow independents to create a niche.

Chances are that’ll never happen though. The reign of clone towns seems set to continue.
