Playing with fire

photo(5)Once your local garden centre was an innocent place where the well-off middle aged might mooch around on a Sunday.

Now though, many  have cottoned on to the profits to be made by selling coffee and orange juice at inflated prices and toys and unnecessary gifts are a regular feature.

But fireworks?

This centre on Henley Road even has them at half price. Something that requires close regulation is not only freely available at a discount but is sold, not at shops which already deal with age-restricted products likes fags and booze, but garden centres which cannot have experience of requesting ID and dealing with people who challenge those requests.

Somehow the garden centres are losing their innocence.
