TT for now

09-10-05 002The  downgraded Station Hill development is not the only Plan B we face opposite our dramatic new station.

Now that plans for a huge and impressive replacement for Thames Tower have been scrapped, we are going to get a refurbishment of that dire brown building bang opposite the station.

TTThis ghastly, miserable block will stay because it seems the developer didn’t think the downturn would last so long.

You have to wonder where they’ve been since 2007.

The country has debts bigger than we have ever known, and despite all the cutbacks, we are still borrowing more just to pay the interest.

Did they really expect problems on this scale to just go away? They had more than 36 meetings with the council on their plans so how much did they waste on this pie in the sky plan?

Or are these people so addicted to debt themselves that they really do live in another world?
