Get getreading

getThe new look getreading site was revealed last week with a clear indication of the way sites are going.

At first glance the most noticeable thing is the size and number of pictures. Small, big, narrow, wide and many which revolve while you watch on a vast and busy front page.

And the good thing about a local site is that the people and places in the photos and videos are going to be recognisable and closer to home than in a national newspaper website.

It’s early days and no doubt things will develop and change over the years, but compare newspaper websites now with those of ten years ago and the difference is huge. I have long thought pictures and videos are the way ahead but beyond that and, specifically, what sites will look like ten years from now, I’ve absolutely no idea!
