Yell for help

YPThe new Yellow Pages seems to represent what is happening to the company which publishes it.

As it shrinks to barely an A5 size pocket book, the debt-laden company exists as a pale shadow of its once-dominant self.

The staff at One Reading Central include many who moved there from Slough when hundreds were made redundant.

Even so staff numbers are much lower than before, few people report a great response from being in Yellow Pages and is far from the best way of finding a number. If I was a betting man I would suggest the change in status of Yell will continue at speed in the next few years.

And that could mean one of the biggest blows to the local jobs market since the recession began.
