City limits

If we are behind Chelmsford in the race to become a city it’s surely time we gave up.

For whatever reason it’s not going to be us and too many column inches have already been wasted on this never-ending quest.

Among the arguments seemed to be that we had a team close to getting into the Premier League. Well yes we have. But if that’s an argument then the suburbs of Aston and Tottenham would have a shout too.

Best thing we can do is forget it. Stop being distracted from the day job and continue making the town prosperous. We haven’t done bad without city status. Do we really need it?
