Up and Chatham

If there is one development that has done little more than disappoint, it’s this one.

Despite plans for a mixed use scheme involving retail, flats, swimming pool, leisure centre, offices and possibly a hotel, Chatham Place is a block of flats and a car park. And they knocked a car park down to build it.

Now Phase Two has been announced and instead of the tower block rising above the roundabout, the next ones will block the views of the current residents.

No hotel, no swimming pool, not even any offices – and not many retailers.

The one thing in its favour is that it’s a decent car park. But this is all about what might have been, which is far more interesting than what is.
