Home comfort

A development of flats used to be nothing to write home about but this long planned block, an extension to 2 Gosbrook Road in Caversham, seems to be part of a mini-boom in housing development.

Opposite, the former Fuller Read building has been demolished before it fell down. Plans exist for a mews development there and behind it the very long awaited retirement homes are now under way.

Next door the asbestos-riddled former Arthur Legge Centre is soon to be demolished, almost certainly for more homes although that is not confirmed.

The  banks might not be lending and people may be struggling but someone has some money.
